SabreSlice
A downloadable game
Sabre Slice- Sam Ding
The idea of producing this game for my 3rd year final project came around after looking into games with combat and how most have the player mash a singluar button inorder to perfectly execute attacks and blocks. I wanted to create more skill based element to a combat system that has the user actively look for openings and good attacks. Having martial arts being very important to me, i understand correct techniques and form in regards to sword fighting, and thus I came up with the idea of integrating line of cut into a video game. In other words, haing the player execute a correct cut that would go through a defence put in place.
Therefor Im using a simple graphic to guide the player into the correct attack or block to be executed and whats normaly a button mashing competition becomes a game of reflexes and quick, precise action. i also chose for the game to be a console game as I believed that the control scheme would lend itself better towards this.
How To Play?
In the title screen, your able to select a weapon, press any button to start.
Walking with the left stick and look with the right, when you approach an enemy you can start attacking using the any of the buttons on the right of the controller or a mix of 2, and when a visual appears over the head of the enemy, align your button presses with the direction of the arrow for a Crit on attack, or if its a block, att the right trigger to deflect the blow completly.
